The church, built in Lombard gothic style by Guiniforte Solari between 1463-1482, is designed with three aisles and seven spans, supported by columns of granite and by the walls of the chapels.
The interior is 63 m long and 30 m wide including the chapels, and 14,40 m high. The decorations and the figures of the saints covering the three aisles and the pillars of the chapels are attributed to various masters of the Lombard school such as Butinone, Zenale, Montorfano and Bergognone.
Solari’s church opens itself on the bright Bramante’s tribune and, on the left, into the Virgin Mary’s chapel. |

La chiesa, costruita da Guiniforte Solari in stile gotico lombardo negli anni 1463-1482, è a tre navate con sette campate, sorrette da colonne di granito e dalle pareti delle cappelle.
L’interno è lungo 63 m, largo 30 m comprese le cappelle e al centro alto 14,40 m. Gli ornati e le figure di Santi che coprono le tre navate e i pilastri delle cappelle sono variamente attribuiti al Butinone, allo Zenale, al Montorfano e al Bergognone, maestri di scuola lombarda.
La chiesa del Solari si apre frontalmente nella luminosa tribuna del Bramante e, a sinistra, nella primitiva cappella della Madonna. |
